About the Hobart FC

Located centrally, in the heart of Hobart, at the TCA Ground on the Hobart Queens Domain, the Hobart Football Club is a community based AFL Club, fielding 14 teams from Auskick to Junior Boys & Junior Girls, Youth Boys & Youth girls, U18, Reserves, Seniors & Masters. The Club is well established in the Southern Football League (S.F.L.) and continues with its proud history forged over 70 years. The HFC is currently undergoing expansion with ground and facilities redevelopment and additions. The HFC upgrading, in conjunction with the Hobart City Council, is part of the Hobart Council’s Masterplan development of the Queens Domain Precinct. The TCA ground is used every day of the week, year round for AFL Football and First Class cricket.

History & Success:

Founded in 1944, The ‘Tigers’ have won 10 premierships and have been successful in supporting over 25 players reaching AFL/VFL level. Players such as Triple Brownlow Medallist Ian Stewart, Triple Premiership player Alastair Lynch, Former Melbourne and now Collingwood’s jumping Jack Jeremy Howe and Gold Coast Suns’ Aaron Hall. They are all part of Hobart’s history. With stability within the coaching and player group and all coaching staff having National AFL Accreditation, Hobart is looking to charge further up the ladder in 2017 and beyond, following the Seniors and Reserves Finals appearances in 2016.


The Hobart Football Club, with its rich history and success is determined to be Tasmania’s best community football club and participates actively in –

  • working with Charities including but not limited to Ronald McDonald House, Lend a Hand to Hugo, St Vincent De Paul winter appeal and the Worlds Greatest Shave, and have 2017 plans to assist the lives of Homeless people.
  • has various sporting clubs (Masterules team, AFL 9s team, touch football teams, cribbage group, basketball team, Gaelic football team, and planning is under way for a future AFL women’s team).
  • We have a Special Projects Committee dedicated to assisting youth with mentoring and gaining meaningful employment (have assisted in placing club members in government agencies, call centres, building industry & factory labouring & involvement in the Centrelink Back to Work program, & plans to assist the Homeless.
  • Annual participation in the Hobart Christmas Pageant parade.
