The New -The Old-The Returning

Over the next few weeks’ we will be introducing you to our Hobart Football Club Family.

Our first introduction may be new to some of you but we are very happy to welcome back Nathan Harnett who has accepted the 2018 U18 Coaches position.

Nathan played for our club between 2003 & 2007 He won two Reserves Best & Fairest Awards We remember that we had to call him away from his workplace to receive the award in 2005. He then went on to share the award with Luke Goodsell in 2006 Nathan also assisted U18 coach John Edge in 2005.

Nathan left Hobart to play with St Virgils with many ex HFC players & assist Coaching including Daniel Gray, injuries to his knees caused him to quit playing but not from being involved with football Nathan returned to his original club Brighton where he coached teams from Juniors – U16 -U18 & Reserves with great success

After having a couple of years away from the game Nathan met up with HFC former player John Rafferty who encouraged him to contact Scott Quinn & Mark Beck. Nathan grabbed the chance to be back at HFC  with his old teammates & looked forward to coaching again

Having lost a number of last year’s U18 Premiership team & difficulties with not being  able to train together until last week due to work at the TCA Nathan accepts the challenge he is placed with & has great confidence in the very real talent coming through.

Nathan works as a detective with Tasmania Police. We welcome Nathan & his wife Rebecca and children William & Eva back into the Hobart Football Club Family.

Look who turned up to training this week!

A surprise visit to the TCA on Wednesday night training when  Alastair Lynch dropped into the TCA while visiting Hobart on business Alastair took the time to have a meal with the players before talking to all teams & lucky supporters.

He has great memories of his time playing for Hobart under Peter Hudson after moving down from Wynyard He could have been picked up by Hawthorn, Essendon or Collingwood in1986 but decided to play one more year with Hobart & feels lucky enough to to be drafted by Fitzroy for season 1988. As is now history Fitzroy were forced to move to Brisbane in 1994

A lot of success followed with Premierships & All Australian representation until his retirement in 2004. Alastair  now reports for FOX FOOTY It was a great pleasure to have one our favourite sons back at the TCA .
