Being Brave for a Cause
They say you should be brave and shave, and this year Hobart Football Club Director Joshua Munting is taking to his locks for a good cause. Next Saturday (25th March) at our season launch function Josh is going as bald as a badger (are they really bald??). Some may accuse him of being inspired by Tim Dennis’ or John Mather’s hairstyle, but he tells a different story.
“This year I’m doing the Leukaemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave. Most of us can relate to being affected by cancer, my family has been touched personally this year losing my 38 year old cousin Scott to Leukaemia in September last year. Scott was a proud father to two young daughters and lived in Rural NSW. In September 2015 Scott went to the doctor for a sore throat and was prescribed antibiotics, within a year he would fight multiple bouts of chemo before succumbing to Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML). His strength was inspiring and unimaginable, the support he was given by the Leukaemia Foundation and his family was incredible. Hopefully this can raise some money to help research and others in the same position as Scott to fight the good fight.” I really hope the footy club can get behind this great cause. Donations are much appreciated and can be made online here, otherwise please take the opportunity to support the cause at our season launch!
