The Week Gone:

Well, another tough week for the club on field with results not going our way. Thursday Night saw Senior Coach Mark Beck announce that he was stepping down from the role on mutual agreement with the club. The full statement can be viewed here. The club thanks Mark for his passion and service to the club across many years both as a player and coach.

The Weekend kicked off with the Women Tigers taking on the Lindisfarne Lady Blues, and the girls battled hard defensively but went down to the Lady Blues 19.13 (127) to no score. The Tiger’s best were Ashton McHenry, Fiona Langford, Mikayla Batchelor, Molly Browning, Tamika Shingler and Abbey Browning. While we are on the Women’s side a big congratulations to Fiona Langford who has been selected to represent the SFLW side in this weekend’s representative game. Best of luck to Fiona and the rest of the SFLW.

The Reserves looked in the hunt early but were largely outclassed by a strong Lindisfarne side. Notable mentions included Mark Beck who pulled on the boots again following stepping down from his coaching role, and he played well earning himself the first mention. Josh Young was good, with Shaun Gray’s pressure worth a mention too. The other best players were Bidgood, Daly and Stone for the Tigers with Lindisfarne running out 19.17 (131) winners to Hobart’s 4.3 (27). It was great to see the recognition for Mark Beck with a guard of honour following the Reserves game and plenty of applause to acknowledge his efforts!

The Seniors started well with a couple of early goals giving us the lead briefly, Lindisfarne however kicked eight in a row meanwhile the Tigers kept kicking behinds late in the first and during the second quarter. The third quarter wasn’t the greatest however the Tigers fought out the last quarter strongly to show some signs. Ben Mabon hardly missed a hit out all game, with the Tigers best comprising of Goninon, Lynd, Azzopardi, Awde, Pulford and Mabon.

Finally, the Colts had the ‘Twilight Game’, the third and first half of the last quarter saw the Tigers giving it a real shake kicking a few goals whilst holding a strong Lindisfarne. With about 15 minutes to go the Tigers looked an outside chance before Lindisfarne kicked away. The Tigers Best were Shaun Clark, Jye King, Tom Beswick, Jason McDonald, Tom Gamble and Will Golding.
