Tomorrow will see the Tigers final practice match before the season commences, with the club taking on the St Pats Football Club at Prospect Park in Launceston from 1pm. The clubwill be taking up a strong squad, which will be aiming to follow up on the club’s strong showing in last week’s Tye Bennett Cup.
It’s another great chance for us to get some run in the legs and show where we’re at ahead of an exciting 2021 season.

Tye Bennett Cup
Last Thursday saw a great win by the boys playing DOSA for the Ty Bennett Cup at Campania Oval. The boys were on top all game with there skills really standing out in the windy conditions and there run and fitness was elite. A comfortable win in the end with a number of senior players not available. Eat ’em alive Tigers.
Under 19s Practice Game
On Tuesday Night our Under 19s had a practice game vs Lauderdale at Montrose Bay High School. We have a number of promising recruits who we are excited to see in the HFC colours for Season 2021 and beyond!
It was the group’s second game together as a side coached by Senior Player Dylan Huxley and supported by Assistant Steve Joseph. Lauderdale certainly started the game off well and being in control at half time. Then our boys kicked into gear having a six goal third term and finished the game off well to get over the line and give themselves some confidence going into round 1 at the TCA! Go Tigers!
Throwback – Pre-Season Camp
Back in February the Coaches & playing group headed up to the East Coast for the past two days on our pre season camp at Coles Bay.
Senior Coach Alex Gilmour said before the camp that he wanted to challenge the players mentally and physically and get them to push the pain barrier which he feels will certainly help the players get through the upcoming season in the tough stages of games.
Importantly, the camp will also provide a chance for the younger Tigers and particularly the new recruits to enjoy quality time with their teammates. The first part of the day was a team Triathlon which consisted of a run leg, bike leg & swim leg covering significant distances!
After a lunch refuel break the players and coaches moved on to the second part of the day which included 11km of walking/Running and beach activities on Wineglass Bay & Hazards Beach.
Once the second part of the day was completed we spoke with Alex Gilmour and he said that it was brutal and that it was the hardest thing he has had to do in his football career which includes time in the AFL, VFL & TSL!
Well done to all the coaches and players who were involved in the camp it was an amazing effort with everyone getting through the full day! We know the mental aptitude and fitness will benefit come the Season!
