From The President:

An exciting start to the season for the Hobart Football Club with the Seniors sitting at 4-1 in third position, a shattering result against the reigning Premiers Huonville who the Tigers outclassed for most of the game but couldn’t take home the four points. Even more stressful for the Tigers faithful was the injury to playing Coach Alex Gilmour who popped his shoulder out in the last 10 mins. We are very hopeful for a speedy return from him. The takeaway for our football club was that we now know we can match it with last year’s Premiers and that is something that should make our players, coaches and supporters are extremely proud.

Currently the senior team has a number of injuries to top Senior players and we simply need to find a way to win games in the next few weeks, but the future is certainly looking bright with Senior debuts from Under 19s Jacob Quinn, Dane Ayliffe and David Monks, who have all looked impressive taking the step up. We are hopeful that at some stage we can get a full side on the park ahead of finals. Lindisfarne, Dodges Ferry and Brighton round out our next block of games and we are hoping to keep the momentum going!

Our Reserves have been thereabouts too, sitting in fifth at 3-2. Reserves Coach Matthew ‘Slug’ Allie has slotted right in to the footy club in his first year of coaching. Despite injuries testing the Reserves depth they put a workman like performance in the last three quarters against Huonville to show that they can be a force to come as the season goes on.

As far as the Under 19s go, the boys are flying. Sitting in second at 4-1 with a phenomenal percentage of 355% they have looked impressive winning four on the trot. Coach Dylan Huxley and assistant Steve Joseph are doing a great job in coaching this energetic group, who have been a welcome addition to the club. Congratulations as well must go to Craig Blaschke Jr. and Angus Fisher who played in the SFL u18s representative side on the weekend, supported by Assistant Coach Dylan Huxley.

Who could forget our master rules side? They’ve proudly put on the black and gold and played three games for the season, getting close to Sorell in Round Two. There’s a lot of new faces there who we welcome to the club. We’re confident that Coach Heath can get you blokes your first win very soon!

I know that we are now truly in winter, so it’s cold and miserable but now is the time to support your Football Club. Put on your warmest coat and your membership scarf and make sure you come and support your Hobart Tigers, as well as attend upcoming club events!
