This Week’s Games
Best of luck to our Under 19s and Reserves in the finals this weekend. We’re split across the two venues which isn’t ideal, but we’re all hopeful that both sides can get a win. The Under 19s have had a fantastic season and are just two wins away from a Grand Final, while the reserves are in a cut throat elimination final and will be looking to turn the tables on the Sharks for Banger’s 350th game.

Justin “Banger” Harvey 350 Games
Check out the special video tribute featuring Matthew Richardson, Trent and Matthew Harvey.
Banger started with the Hobart Football Club in 1994, playing his first senior game in 1995.
Banger will play his 350th game for the club on Saturday 28 August 2021 in the Reserves Elimination Final at Dodges Ferry.
In addition to this Banger has also managed 119 games with local club Old Scholars Club DOSA.
This change of clubs was forced on Banger and many other players when the TSL decided to go to a 2-tier competition of Seniors & Colts in 2010.
Justin was 32 at the time and wanted to continue to play, but the colts were restricted to Under 21 plus only two players over 23 leaving limited opportunities. Banger would have preferred to be a one club player but that was taken out of his hands
Banger returned to Hobart in 2018 and continues his large presence both on and off the field
Banger played a lot of his games along side his brothers Matt & Trent.
All three brothers have long careers at the club, winning Best & Fairest Awards.
His parents have always been strong stalwarts. His mum Sue can be seen at every game rain, hail, or shine. Sadly his father Brian who was a stalwart on the board, and a passionate clubman is no longer with us.
It is said that 350 is about the number of words spoken by Banger over the journey, quietly spoken off the field but large presence on the field which is an asset to all our players.
Justin is our club’s record games holder. There is barely a body part that hasn’t been injured at least once.
This year Banger has taken on the role of coaching Hobart’s Auskickers which includes his daughter Freya. We look forward to seeing the next generation of the Harvey family’s legacy continuing.
With our reserves playing in the finals we can only hope for a premiership for Banger, he deserves it!
