From the President – Season 2022 is here
It is finally upon us, the 2022 season is just 15 days away.
After a long pre-season the ball will be bounced in anger, and all the hard work will be a memory with the Tigers taking on the Dodges Ferry Sharks at Shark Park on Saturday 2 April 2022.
Prior to this I’d encourage you to attend our Jumper Presentation on the last Thursday training before the season (see below for details).
After a challenging 2021, it will be a positive to get on with footy. A new look Tigers outfit will take to the park after working hard over summer. While there has been some player movement, we are excited that a core nucleus of young players have voted with their feet and will build on the strong foundation of our 2021 Under 19s Grand Finalist team. We have a number of young recruits to add to the group, who we will look forward to welcoming into the Tigers’ Den.
Despite some unwanted publicity during 2021, the club is well placed and is pleased to have welcome new sponsors including a new sponsorship TBA (keep your eyes peeled next week!) and Spreyton Cider over the off-season.
Our club is working hard to recognise and celebrate our strong tradition, with a proud history dating back to 1901. You will note that our tagline of “A Great Tradition” is encouraging our players and members alike to celebrate our great club.
In addition we have launched our code of conduct to continue to build on our club’s values of family, passion, success and tradition. I’d encourage you to have a read of our code of conduct here.
The Code of Conduct applies to all officials, coaches, players, volunteers and supporters, I’d encourage you to use it as a positive prompt to ensure that we continue to add to the “Great Tradition” that is our football club.
Our strong performance in the Under 19s competition in 2021, reminded us of the real value and benefit of developing our Youth. We are sure that the club will continue to benefit in 2022 as these players add to their senior experience. As a club we are hopeful we will be competitive in pushing for a finals spot in 2022.
Unfortunately due to the composition of our 2021 Under 19s team the club will not be in a position to field an Under 19s team for the 2022 season, we recognise that this is far from ideal and will be working hard to ensure future pathways are in place to rectify this in the future.
On a more positive note, Coach Zac Smith will oversee our Under 13s boys program. Which will represent a return to Youth Football for the first time in a number of years.
I’d encourage you now to dig deep, and support the Great Tradition that is the Hobart Football Club. Get along to a game, or even better signup now to be a member.
As always go Tigers.
Kind Regards,
