Volunteer Call to Arms
To ensure the club is sustainable, we are excited to be the first football club in the state to be part of a partnership with AFL Tasmania and Volunteering Tasmania which will look at co-designing a future volunteer model. The Hobart Football Club are the first club in the state to take part in this exciting new program.
Are you available for four monthly two hour sessions to support the club?
First session Tuesday 14 June 2022 – Blundstone Arena Function Room – 6pm-8pm (food and drinks provided)
For more details contact President Josh Munting (0458 015 332) or Volunteer Director Neil Meadows (0407 832 479)
How will it work?
During the 2022 season we will support you to develop a Volunteering Action Plan for your club that focuses on future sustainability in volunteering. To achieve this, we will support the following activity.
- Help the club to set up a ‘working group’. This group will help drive the activity and should be around 6-10 people. Ideally the group will be a mix of roles and people within the club community (players, volunteers, committee members, parents, paid staff or coaches)
- Hold four workshops with the group to;
- Understand from your club community what prevents good engagement and volunteering
- Determine what the key challenges are and develop ideas on how to overcome these challenges
- Draft an action plan that includes how you’ll change and test ideas in this action plan
- Support the group to undertake activity with the broader club community like survey people, testing ideas and making people aware of the work we’re doing together and why.
On completion each club will have their own club-based Volunteering Action Plan that will support and drive how to build more sustainability for volunteering in your club for the future. This is a long-term plan that can be implemented over the coming seasons.
What do you need to do?
We understand that people supporting and involved with footy clubs are busy people, especially during footy season. However, we also know that without action and investment into sustainable volunteering support, clubs will struggle further.
This program will require a commitment from the club and the people, hands on support and a willingness to connect within your club at multiple levels. We can provide the tools, supports and resources to help, however, you’ll need to be invested and committed in this work as well to get the most out of the program.
