Hobart Football Club calls on players to attend training to secure the future of the club
The Hobart Football Club is calling on all contracted and past players to return to the club ahead of the 2023 Southern Football League season to secure the future of the club.
The club has issued a call to arms urging players to attend training and a Club BBQ starting from the TCA Ground this Saturday 18 March from 10am.
As one of the oldest football clubs in Tasmania, Hobart Football Club has a proud history of success and community involvement. However, the club is facing significant challenges in maintaining its position in the highly competitive Southern Football League.
The club boasts a rich history dating back to 1944, with a number of prominent AFL players coming from the club, and a decorated record of ten premierships plus one state premiership.
“We understand that many of our players have struggled with the uncertainty of losing our Senior Coach this close to the 2023 season. Following the appointment of Dylan Huxley the club is committed to building our culture under Dylan’s leadership.”
“We value the contribution from our players and want to encourage them to return and be part of our vision for the future of Hobart Football Club.” said Club President Josh Munting.
The club remains optimistic it will be in a position to field a Senior Team in the 2023 SFL competition, with Munting stating “the time is now for any interested players to get to training, we need strong numbers on the track to continue this proud football club through the 2023 season and beyond.”
Despite some player movement he indicated “that there is a positive feel around the club, and a shared future direction amongst the players and club members.”
“We know that the decision to return to the club is a significant one, and the club want to show our gratitude and appreciation to players who choose to be part of our vision for the future of Hobart Football Club” said Munting.
Other sessions next week will be on Monday and Wednesday, with sessions to switch to Tuesday and Thursday the following week.
