Hobart Masters (PIGSKIN WARRIORS)
The Hobart Masters (Formerly the Pigskin Warriors) are a team of mature aged footballers (35+ years of age) that are not quite ready for retirement. We compete in the local AFL Masters competition every second Sunday and are always on the lookout for new players, helpers and supporters.
Originally the Huon Pigskin Warriors. The Pigskins made the decision to partner with the Hobart Football Club from 2014, with the side gradually transitioning to training and playing as the Hobart Pigskin Warriors out of the TCA Ground.
The Pigskins have worked closely with the board of the Hobart Football Club and have become an important part of the club’s fabric.
The Hobart Masters side caters for men aged 35 years and older who wish to continue playing football. When relocating from the Huon, the club saw an opportunity to create a pathway to recruit new players who couldn’t commit to playing football at a Senior or Reserves level but still wished to continue with the friendship and fitness that comes from being a part of a football club. Part of this pathway has involved the Hobart Masters transitioning from their ‘traditional’ red, white and black jumper to a new design which is more consistent with the Hobart Football Club’s branding and history. Following a year in recess due to COVID-19 in 2020, from 2021 the Hobart Masters elected to adopt the HFC colours of yellow and black and dropped the official moniker of the Pigskin Warriors.
Training
Hobart Masters are currently training at Montrose Bay High School (Top Oval) on Thursday nights at 5:15pm. New Players very welcome.
