HOBART MEDICO SUPPORTS COMMUNITY FOOTBALL
Long has community based sports struggled to gain quality trained medical support for their players. In a first for Tasmania and possibly Australia, new Your Hobart Health medical centre has selected community based SFL club Hobart Football Club, to be the Community based sporting body that it will provide professional medical support and supplies to for the next 2 years. After a miserable 2021 season, plagued by 24 long term injuries, Hobart Football Club is excited to have the professional support of Your Hobart Health at its disposal.
Your Hobart Health is a multi-disciplined medical centre, whose new state-of-the-art facilities has risen out of the ashes of the burnt out old Bridges Bros building in Bathurst Street. Your Hobart Health through Your Hobart Doctors has 11 doctors on staff, is an approved after-hours doctors practice, 3 nurses who assist in the multi-bed treatment rooms, on-site pathology services, and a chemist store through their Your Hobart Chemist.
Your Hobart Health will provide the Hobart Football Club with a doctor who will be the Hobart Club Doctor on game days at the TCA, and will donate medical & first aid supplies for the Hobart Trainers.
Your Hobart Health has a long historical connection to grass football in Tasmania, with Dr Mark “Doc” Baldock being 2nd cousin to legendary Tassie and St.Kilda great Daryl “Doc” Baldock. Dr Mark has volunteered his time to take his place on the Hobart bench on game days to provide professional medical support for the Hobart Trainers. Another connection to community based football is medical centre Business manager Gill Powell whose father played at Hobart Football Club in the 1960’s alongside triple Brownlow medallist Ian Stewart.
This a unique support of community based football in Tasmania, one which the Hobart Football Club is very appreciative, and one which may help to prevent serious injuries to players.
