Tiger Talk

From The President

Hi everyone, I thought I would write a few words to welcome everyone to the 2019 season, after all our first game is a little under 2 months away.

I know players and coaches of all our sides are working hard to get ready for the respective Round 1 games. We are looking forward to a great brand of football from each of our teams this year.

For those of you who don’t know my name is Callam Upchurch. I have been privileged enough to be voted by the board to be the club President this year after Russell Young stepped down at the end of last year. Once again, I would like to thank Russell for his great service to the club (he won’t be going far I can guarantee that, but more on that in the future).

You may have noticed the club this year has taken the stand to be “Ruthless”. We felt that this was necessary due to the way we finished of last year as a club as a whole. We feel the need to be galvanised as one and take the competition on head first both on and off the field. We can’t be frightened to live up to being Ruthless, we need to embrace it and become used to it. The whole club needs to step up.  So I look forward to everyone involved, players, coaches, members, and supporters (who should be members) taking this approach this season.

One of the main things behind the scenes this year is for the club to grow financially; last year was hard on the club with sides not training at the TCA Ground and having junior games moved to other grounds. This year we will be back as one at the TCA so it will give everyone the opportunity to be connected to the club on a more consistent basis and support the club. There will be a few functions for everyone to get along to during the year so having you there would be great for the club.

Speaking of great clubs, as I am, if you find that you or a friend might be at loose end on a Saturday or Sunday (juniors) and thought you might like to volunteer a few hours to help out then please get in touch either in person to any of our board members or via our Facebook page. We would love to have you on board.

I think I have taken up enough of your time. So I will see you soon at our Jeff “Thommo” Thomson night, Round 1 or keep an eye out for our Season Launch which will be advertised at all the usual locations.

Thanks everyone! Eat ‘em alive you Tigers!
