Pre-season has crept up on us and is now here with the boys doing 3 x 1km Time Trials, plenty of new and old faces were on the track for it.
Training from now on will be Tuesdays and Thursdays 5.45pm from the TCA. The den will be open on Thursday nights commencing 26th November.
I for one am excited about the changes and moves to lift our club and what has occurred over the break..We have added to our coaching staff with Mark Beck taking on the role of academy manager (development of or younger players). Dane Colbeck has been appointed to the coach’s role for our under 18’s. Heath Neville has also returned to the club to join our senior coaching panel. Callan Newman has taken on a new role as the fitness coach and a player.Several more recruits and returns will be unveiled in the ensuing weeks.
Off the field we are working away in the den with more painting and updating of the facilities, we are engaging with our sponsors, preparing for the AGM and aligning with some charities for 2016.
A former Hobart coach , player and committee man (1960’s) Ray (Chookie) O’Rourke was in Hobart 10 days ago and popped up to show his daughter where his football career started. Imagine his surprise when he found Russell Young in the den and his amazement at the changes to both the den and the changerooms. He commented that there was always something special about HFC and as he entered the changerooms all the hair on the back of his neck stood up. It was obvious the visit to the TCA was the highlight of his visit to Tasmania.
November 21st 6.30pm will be a night to remember as several of our members enjoy the new lifestyle of turning 60. They include Marshall Reeves, Peter Young and Paul Hudson. The young blokes have requested that players members and friends pop in to the den for a catch up. Hope we see you there.
