Saturday at the TCA started out bright and early with a colts game between New Norfolk and Lindisfarne, followed by the Tiger reserves. New Norfolk reserves have not won a game this year but watching the game you would have thought they were finals contenders. They played the ball hard and looked very polished to the point where at half time they were 12 points in front. The third quarter saw the Tigers kick 5 goals and the last they really dug in and shut out the Eagles. A stellar win, with New Norfolk fighting hard but the Tigers’ Reserves held on by four points.
Scores Hobart 2.2 4.3 9.3 11.4 (70)
New Norfolk 3.1 6.3 7.5 10.6 (66)

The Seniors was another sensational game where the Eagles were quick out of the blocks, aided by a strong breeze, kicking accurately and at quarter time led by 33 points. The second quarter was pretty even and while we posted four goals and four behinds we allowed the Eagles three goals and a huge six behinds. The third quarter was a pretty even affair and I don’t think anyone at the game gave the Tigers even a slim chance of pulling this one off. The fourth quarter clearly displayed the new Tigers as we gained more and more momentum but alas the siren was 20 seconds too early and a four point loss resulted, after being down by 46 points early in the last quarter.

It was a chilly Sunday morning
We ignored the bureau’s warning
The Pigskin’s ventured out to Pembroke Park
With sodden ground and clouds so very dark
Today the odds and gods weren’t donning our attire
But still the Warriors aim was to inspire
The scoreboard wasn’t pretty, just misunderstood
We didn’t get the points, but the beer still tasted good
Best: H Walker, F Martinovich, B Thompson J Hope, A Eastley
Goals Hobart: B. Thompson 2, J Preshaw
