Tiger Talk – 24 July 2015

The day that should have been better, what more can we say the seconds were thoroughly beaten and the seniors fared even worse.  Well done to New Norfolk but we must regroup and take some points away from Huonville this week.

A fine sun filled day at the TCA was enjoyed by all the masters teams on Sunday with four games being played commencing at 10am and concluding at 3.45 pm.  The highlight of the day was certainly our Pigskin Warriors (the group who this year have become part of the Hobart family) having a strong win against Sandy Bay.  To all our helpers on the day a big THANK YOU and to the Pigskin Warriors Thank You for being part of our club.

Our volunteer of the week comes not as one but as a package and is the Cripps family.  I could write a complete book on this family and what they do but here is a snapshot of their efforts within our club.

Firstly Russell has been involved with the juniors for seven years that I can remember and joined the board last year.  Russell has recruited for teams (including complete teams), manages the juniors from registration, through to payments, STJFL  representation, team gear, coaching recruitment, assists on the gate for senior home game days and in his spare time holds down a full time job. To prevent boredom Russell is also the ground manager for all junior games at the TCA. Russells’ ability to manage such a huge workload amazes me and just as I get my head around this he pops up with a gem like the recent Bupa sponsorship which is the envy of every club..
My only thought as to how Russell manages is the awesome assistance given by his wife Janet.  Again Janet does all the same duties that Russell does, runs fundraising raffles, orders club apparel  and also finds time to assist in the canteen . If there is  a spare spot in the kitchen, a function to be run or some payments to be collected Janet will be there.  The attitude of this family continues as (son)  Mark runs water for the seniors every week (rain hail or shine) and will do anything you ask of him to help around the club.

CLUB FUNCTIONS The next major function is Prom Night and it’s one not to miss. Music, good food and drink in a warm friendly environment.  What more could you ask for?  See the attached brochure and don’t miss out BOOK NOW (see phone numbers on flyer).

Sponsor of the week is TypeFace and what a great sponsor.  Every week we call Dean and request an urgent job and yes every week he delivers.  Typeface specialise in trade and pre press printing, flyers, brochures and photo restorations.  For your next job call Dean on 62 343636.
