Tiger Talk – 29 April 2016

A lot of news for this week – so make sure you read it all!

Bye Week Blues

One week of those Tigers not playing and I already miss the game.  TV games do not replace the real thing so this week I focussed on the juniors and what a joy. While both our under 14’s and the under 12’s were beaten it was great to see the spirit in which the games were played and the comradery of both groups.  They are a real credit to the coaches and support staff. I even saw a tiger coloured birthday cake for all to share after one game.

This Week

Game on again this week as we venture down to Pembroke Park for the next challenge. This will be an interesting day and a win would certainly put the Tigers (seniors and reserves) in solid placings on the respective ladders.  We are in a better position than we have been for many seasons but it is not time to relax but time to move forward and show the real colours. We come up against a familiar foe in former Hobart Assistant (TSL Colts) Robbie Iles who is in his first season as a Senior Coach, taking the helm at Sorell. We wish him luck for the season, but not for tomorrow! The Hobart Pigskin Warriors (Master Rules) are playing again this week and can be seen in full flight at  Anzac Park on Sunday 1st May against Lauderdale at 10am See you there.

The Grapevine

Some big news from off the field and we congratulate our Under 18s Coach Dane Colbeck on getting engaged to his long time partner Madeleine Paske. We wish them both a long and very happy time together.

Touch Team added to the Fold

This week also saw a first, with the Hobart Tigers introducing a mixed touch football side to our club. The team playing in the Southern Touch League on Wednesday nights (at Wentworth Park), we hope they have a successful year and look forward to adding some new people to our wonderful football club family. The first match was played on Wednesday Night, with the guys and girls going down 11-2. They showed some great signs though, and given over half the side hadn’t played before they will be looking to improve each game. You can keep up to date with them on the new Touch Footy section of our website. Check them out this Wednesday 4th May at 6.10pm!
