Tiger Talk – 8 June 2016

UNDER 18s:
Well there weren’t too many spectators for the start of the under 18’s at the TCA on Saturday.  The wind was bitter and the temperature almost zero. Having said that those who were there witnessed a strong showing with our under 18’s leading half way through the third quarter and gallant to the final siren.
Hobart        2.2    4.2    4.7    4.9    (33)
Huonville    0.0    3.2    5.4    6.10  (46)
Goal kickers: Trey Ramritu 2, Seb Godfrey, Ty Nichols
Best Players: Tom Farnham,  Zane Awde,  Jaydon Aram,  Isaac Hovington,  Jayden Richards,  Seb Clark.
Our reserves were supposed to have a day out but again let themselves down.  Great to see we are just starting to get some injured players back including Charlie Leek and Jake Munting and still obtaining new players.
Final scores: Hobart 6.9  (45)  Huonville  11.10  (76)
The seniors were a different kettle of fish travelling very well until quarter time and then easing up. The second quarter was clearly won by Huonville and after half time it looked like the day was going to get worse.  Half way through the third quarter someone switched on the light for our boys and we banged on five quick goals.  The three quarter break had most of us thinking that Huonville were looking like taking the lollies but our boys had different ideas.  With a bench of two we soldiered on and while there was some brilliant individual efforts by players including Sam Godfrey and Mark Nichols the day was won by an inspired team effort.  This game should go down in the history books as the time we got broke our way out of jail.
Hobart            2.2    6.5    11.9    15.14  (104)
Huonville       3.2    10.4   13.8    14.12 (96)
Goal kickers Sam Godfrey 4, Ben Garrett 3, Sam Reeves 2, Bryden Goninon 2, Tim Langdale, Dean Jetson, Brenton Allie, Dylan Huxley.
Best Players   Sam Godfrey, Marcus Fitz, Dylan Huxley, Tim Langdale, Sam Reeves, Michael Woods.
Full recording of our coverage of this week’s senior game is available here – Thanks to Edge Radio 99.3FM, we see a few weeks of with our next broadcast looking likely to be the New Norfolk game.
Saturday was the Ladies high tea at the home of the Tigers and what a success this turned out to be.  The organisation (by Debbie Huxley) with almost 60 attendees,, the food presentation (and I am told taste) was excellent, the guest speaker (who enlightened all about Ronald McDonald houses) and the stalls that were held added up to a very pleasant few hours with some even staying on for the evening quiz night.

Saturday night was another winner with plenty of celebration drinks in the bar followed by a quiz night which was run by our masters team.  As expected all tables except one didn’t like the questions (or the quiz master).  The victors table was headed by one Tony McSherry so we have not only the best trainer in the SFL but also one very smart trainer. Thanks to all those who were involved with the quiz night it was enjoyable to be at.

Thursday night we are not opening the bar but our players are heading to the Talbot for tea so come along and join us from 7pm.

No football this week OH DEAR!! But we have a solution.  The Hobart Pigskin Warriors are playing at the TCA on Saturday at Midday so we are opening the canteen topping up the bar, and hoping for our team to get their first win for the season.  And there is still more to come there will be no entry fee to the ground so let’s get along and make this a wonderful afternoon.
Those of you who didn’t attend either or both of Saturdays functions missed terrific events so we will again have a premier function that you can book in to now.
The Annual Presidents Lunch will be held at the TCA on JULY 16th at the TCA (when Hobart play Cygnet) from 11.30 am. Jamie Shanahan is already confirmed as our guest speaker and there are more surprises to come.  The day includes the presentation of Life Membership Awards, an outstanding meal supplied by The Roaring Grill and beverages until 3pm all for $100 or concession $70.  Don’t hesitate ring 0427 256 340 and book now for yourself and some friends.
