From the President
Finally it has arrived. Round 1 is just about upon us. I for one am excited about this. It’s been a long pre-season and I think everyone is ready to go.
I hope everyone is excited about the Federal Labor Party’s promise of $3.35 million dollars for the TCA Ground upgrade. This is a great step forward for the club. I would like to thank Russell Young for his hard work in getting these plans across the line. I know he has had to deal with tricky issues but as usual he pulled through. So we look forward to seeing the development unfold.
Now the season has begun we are back training at the TCA ground, which means Thursday nights the bar will be open for all supporters and members to get along, have drink or two, hear the team selections for the weekend and support the club. The more the merrier so it would be great to see as many supporters there as possible each week! Our Masters kicked off the season on the weekend going down to a strong Lauderdale outfit, they’re still looking for more players aged over 35 years old. So if you’re interested, contact Coordinator Wade Chatterton 0419 110 001 or Coach Chris Jordan 0415 494 017, training is now at Wednesdays from 5.30pm at Soldier’s Memorial Oval (Crossroads).
This season, our Saturdays will be added to by having the women’s side play their games alongside the men at our home games. This will be great for our girls as they can experience having a good crowd supporting and encouraging them. The side this year is still fairly inexperienced but improving all the time. Once again this is another reason to get along and support the girls during the year.
After a big pre-season I know that our men’s sides (including Under 19’s) are primed and ready to go. I have been to most training sessions and have seen the intensity grow each session. Look forward to a good showing from all sides this season. Welcome to the coach Tim Luttrell and all of the boys who have come to the club!
A huge thank you to all our loyal and new sponsors including First National Real Estate Hobart & Kingston, who are on our jumpers as a major sponsor.
Off field the board are working hard in keeping the club running as smoothly as possible. I would like to thank them for their efforts and support over the preseason and look forward to working together during the season.
But the board can’t do it all. If you think you can spare a couple of hours each week, or know someone who could then please send them our way. We are on the lookout for any volunteers especially time keepers (it’s easy I promise).
Well that’s it from me. I look forward to catching up with as many supporters, members and sponsors as I can throughout the year.
